The north-west corner of a site occupied by the St Jude's Church. There is a large L-shaped garden and outdoor area to the left of the tree and to its rear, much of it at a lower level than the church. It was designed by the George and Henry Godwin and built between 1867-70. The tower and the spire were added in 1879. It is now home to St Mellitus College. This college was founded in 2007 by the Bishops of London and Chelmsford and it moved into this building in 2012. Although a Grade II* listed building it was renovated specifically for its new theological training role.
