The lane from Credenhill past Magna Castra Farm skirts the walls of the roman town of Magnis, which still exist buried in the hedgerow. They can be clearly seen here at the road junction. Magnis was excavated by The Woolhope Club in 1912-13 and again in 1924-5, but nothing has happened since. The site is pasture land and the home of a major dairy farm.
