The wall is a listed building; the house behind is separately listed Image as (probably) the oldest dwelling house in Exeter. The wall is of cob; that of the adjacent property is of rendered blockwork. The difference between the two materials means the traditional surface is damper, so supports lichen at the base. The boundary between the two materials is evident from the picture
