There is a plaque to commemorate Richard Ford, who lived here. Ford wrote two early guides for travellers to Spain. His "Hand-Book for Travellers in Spain" was published in 1845, and "Gatherings from Spain" in 1846; he rebuilt and modified an old house on the site, but after World War 2, the grounds were developed for housing, the house became derelict and was demolished. This block was possibly stables; beyond, the modern houses have old sandstone walls by the road, the boundary of the grounds of the estate.
