The name of the war poet Julian Grenfell appears on the memorial. Grenfell lived at Panshanger House (demolished in 1953) home of Lord and Lady Desborough (William Grenfell). Desborough's seat was in Taplow but his wife Ettie inherited Panshanger in 1913.
