Between the Lyngford Road http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4281125 junction behind the camera and the Buckland Road junction ahead, this is one of several kinks slightly modifying the course of Eastwick Road to slow down traffic through a residential area. Later, I saw this http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4281256 sign which calls the kink a chicame.
