Usk Osteopathy on the left is at 15 Maryport Street, Usk. Osteopathy emphasises the interrelationship between structure and function of the body and recognises the body's ability to heal itself. The osteopath facilitates that process, principally by the skilled practice of manual and manipulative therapy. In the UK, osteopathy is a distinct healthcare profession, recognised in the Osteopaths Act 1993. Its practitioners are highly trained to practise autonomously in a primary contact setting. Patients may consult them directly without being referred by another healthcare professional. Only practitioners registered with the General Osteopathic Council are permitted to use the title osteopath.
