During the 1970s in particular, Friars in Aylesbury was a notable rock venue played by many major figures. David Bowie, when developing the Ziggy Stardust persona, experimented a lot at Friars and acquired a major following in Aylesbury before he unleashed the character on London. He can be seen top centre in the mural; other artistes visible include Siouxsie Sioux, Deborah Harry, the Ramones, Adam Ant, Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople, Stiff Little Fingers and Kid Creole, as well as others that escape me.
