From Cemetery Road, opposite Turners Lane. What is now the Garden of Remembrance was Gillingham's first municipal cemetery on land at Rolls Bridge purchased by Gillingham Burial Board in 1860 to provide a burial ground for the town on the closure of St Mary's churchyard. The cemetery was full by 1890. Land was purchased on the opposite side of the road for Gillingham's new cemetery, which is still in use in 2014.
