The smaller building is the laboratory block where I spent a very pleasant 30 years of my professional life. The labs were bigger and busier than might be expected from the size of the hospital because they processed specimens for the General Practitioners in Lanarkshire and the East end of Glasgow - approx. 10% of Scotland's GPs referred their lab work here.
