Upper Cherry Garden Waterworks - steam pumping engine

One of the two that were the first of their type in the UK and now preserved off-site. One is re-erected at Brede Waterworks and the other is in bits at Kew Bridge Steam Museum. This is a Worthington type non-rotative triple expansion pumping engine by James Simpson of London. On the left is the air pump and to its right the main pumps shifting Folkestone's drinking water. The cylinder above is the surface condenser.
