A bundle of caterpillars

In the hedgerow beside the drive of Faulkner's Down Farm. They are a species of small ermine moth, Yponomeuta cagnagella, and are devouring spindle. They had also smothered the hedge in their webs. Spindle is a common shrub on chalky soils.
