The first station at Kentish Town was opened by the Midland Railway in 1868 on the extension to its new London terminal at St Pancras. The station was rebuilt in 1983, and nothing of the original station building remains. This is the view towards the bridge which carries Islip Street over the lines. The train to the left was a Bedford to Brighton train which was not meant to stop here but was being held because of a broken down train at City Thameslink. Fast through trains use the two tracks out of sight to the right on this side of the high wall and an East Midlands train on its way to St Pancras can be seen passing through.
