J D Wetherspoon pub at 61-63 Eastgate Street. The Wetherspoon website states that the pub is named after the poet John Taylor, also known as the Water Poet, born in Gloucester, of humble parentage in 1580. Educated at the Crypt School, he became a London waterman to supplement his income gained through composing rhymes.
