The Foregate Street bingo hall was originally the Gaumont Theatre which first opened on October 28th 1935. It was built for Provincial Cinematograph Theatres, a subsidiary of Gaumont British Theatres. The cinema had a fully equipped stage, 70 ft wide and 40 ft deep. The Rank Organisation closed the Gaumont in May 1974. It was converted to a Top Rank Bingo Club, now a Gala Bingo Club.
