This rather touching little memorial has been placed on the road sign for Canonbury Road by the London Borough of Islington with Lottery funding. It commemorates the men from the street who lost their lives in the First World War and was put up on the occasion of the centenary of the start of the War. A close up can be seen at http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4261275 The plaque is part of ‘The Streets They Left Behind' project, undertaken by Islington Heritage Service. An interactive map of where each person in Islington who died once lived can be found at http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=2cb7d264996b45a6bc655c34ada3f798&extent=-0.114,51.5303,-0.0981,51.5355
