There seems to be some doubt about this history of the cross. It stood originally at Old Cullen, but was removed in the 1820s to Castle Hill, where there are the remains of a base. There is apparently no documentary evidence to determine ehether the present cross incorporates parts of the original, or whether it is entirely of 19th century construction based.
