This view is up a strangely deserted Bostall Hill at midday on a November weekday. It was a very different picture in July 2007 when the first stage of the Tour de France came up here on the way from London to Canterbury. It was the first hill on the route and so the crowds gathered here expecting the riders to slow down a little. Needless to say this hill was no trouble to them when faced with the Alps later on in the race. They did not even slow down.
