One of the striking line-up of express locomotives to be seen at Crewe North in Steam Days, No. 5508 remains in LMSR livery five months after Nationalisation. Built 8/32 as No. 6010, it became No. 5508 in 1934; it never acquired a name nor was it rebuilt, surviving until 11/60. (Behind it is 2-6-4T No. 2309).
