The Grade II-listed C19th Stephenson Memorial Hall that houses the town's museum, art gallery and a theatre. This Gothic edifice was built from public subscriptions as a memorial to the railway pioneer George Stephenson who lived at nearby Tapton Hall and who is buried in Holy Trinity Church. In 1889 the building was purchased by Chesterfield Corporation and in June 1982 "The Civic" was renamed the Pomegranate Theatre.
