Looking north from the Down platform, a Jubilee Line train is standing at the other platform. Kingsbury station is one of very few London Transport stations to have been served be three separate lines at different periods. It was opened on 10 December 1932 by the Metropolitan Railway, and on the formation of the LPTB the following year it became part of the Metropolitan Line. There were only very few trains to Baker Street at first, the off-peak service just consisting of a single-car shuttle between Stanmore and Wembley Park. In 1939, Bakerloo Line tube trains took over, running between Stanmore and Elephant & Castle, but in 1979 the Stanmore branch was switched to the Jubilee Line, with its eastern terminus at Stratford.
