Cefn Coed (or Pontycapel) Viaduct was built in 1866 to carry the Brecon & Merthyr Railway across the River Taff Fawr at Pontycapel. The viaduct extends for 770ft (235m), with a maximum height of 115ft (35m). It was built on a curve to fulfil conditions laid down by the Crawshay Estate. The route across the viaduct is now a footpath and cycleway, part of the Taff Trail.
