View of the railway line from Squires Gate Lane bridge. The "Fylde Line" was opened in 1863 and originally ran to Blackpool Central station. In 1964 that station was closed and the line cut back to terminate at Blackpool South and by the 1980s the line was reduced to a single track. Currently an hourly service is operated by Northern Rail between Blackpool South and Colne.
