A Palladian window, a detail of the Masonic Lodge in the High Street. The foundation stone records the building as being designed by James Jerman, F.R.I.B.A., and opened on 6 March, 1890. In the formative days of Freemasonry, two rival factions grew up but eventually united in 1813. Of the six Antient Grand Lodges in Devon, five are based in Plymouth but this one is Sidmouth is the only one outside it. See Image] for a closer look at the bas-relief.
