View SE from College Road bridge, towards Hereford station. This line was a curiosity for two reasons: in otherwise totally GWR territory, the former Midland Railway (later LMSR) had, by means of running-powers from Worcester, penetrated into South Wales from Hereford to Brecon, and the line survived until 31/12/62; latterly some ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 0-6-0s were imported by the LMSR to work on it. One of these was BR No. 52525 (built c. 1907, withdrawn 4/53), seen here. (Cf. Image and Image )
