This building - the Corporation Public Baths - erected in 1893, and one of four in the city of Belfast, provided hot bath facilities for people who lived in houses without proper baths. The rebuilding of large tracts of residential properties in the city made these public facilities redundant. In the case of the Templemore Avenue baths the building was saved from closure in the early 1980s by a voluntary committee. A 25 yard pool is still in use and a fully equipped gym, sauna and steam room have been added. http://www.templemorebaths.org.uk/cgi-bin/greeting?instanceID=1
