This fine set of buildings first started life in 1895 as the replacement for the town's cottage hospital. It was a simple two-storey affair which served Melksham for a number of years. After that it became an educational institute before the Labour Party moved in by the 1960s. After adding a number of extensions the political party left it in 2012. The building has since been left unoccupied, but a developer has applied to demolish it and create some much-valued housing. Sadly, the old premises are on the town heritage trail but practicality seems to be the order of the day now. See Image] for another look around.
