This tunnel was hewn our of the rock face by hand probably in the late 18th. Century when much of the Estate was developed. Chisel marks are evident throughout the length of the 'cave' as it is known. There are opening to allow light to enter that provide a view of the river below. The figures give some scale to the opening which reduces quickly to around 2.5mtrs.
