This old mill is on the Ballooly Road near Katesbridge. It is a well-overgrown roofless shell. So far as I know it used to be a scutch mill. Scutching was that part of the linen-making process where the stems of the flax plant were beaten to remove the useful fibres from the material around them. It seems that many such mills were owned by larger farmers rather than by the linen companies.
