Wide Bargate is seen here leading towards the large roundabout that deals with the intersections of the A1137 (Horncastle Road) and the A16 (Spilsby Road). Cammack`s moved to this building in 1932 and it was undoubtedly seen as one of Boston's finest shop buildings. It was an early example of a steel-girdered building and it had the first lift in a local shop. It was probably, also, the first shop in Boston to have oil-fired central heating. Built at the height of the 1930s financial crisis, a decision that was seen by many as being a very risky one indeed, it appears that this bold decision paid off extremely well, because this furniture business appears to still be doing satisfactorily more than 80 years further down the line.
