Amazingly, the original bronze statue of Isambard Kingdom Brunel at Neyland was stolen in August 2010, presumably by metal thieves. The present one is a replica cast from the same mould as used by sculpture Robert Thomas, and has been given additional protection in the form of bollards and CCTV. The 8ft statue was unveiled in April 2013.
