The Fossdyke Navigation ends where it meets the River Witham at Brayford Pool in the centre of Lincoln. This was once the commercial heart of the city with a large expanse of water surrounded by warehouses, mills, timber yards and maltings. The Pool has been the focus of Lincoln's urban regeneration since the early 1990s and today it is now overlooked by bars, restaurants, a cinema and, perhaps most significantly, the University of Lincoln. The Pool is used as a marina by houseboats and pleasure craft, as well as by anglers and kayakers.
