This pair of twin heavy machine gun posts are the only pair extant in Suffolk. Each post has two large stepped embrasures. The external size of the post is 24 feet and the internal size is 16 feet making the walls 4 feet thick on the front and sides. The back wall is only 2 feet thick. Inside there is a central wall to help reduce noise and the chance ricocheting bullet. Each would have been manned by a crew of 4 or 5 men and armed with two Vickers heavy machine gun. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4207243
