J. J. Castings Investments (Heat Treatments) factory occupies former Caerphilly railway works buildings on the west side of Van Road. The works, built for the Rhymney Railway in 1899, became part of the Great Western Railway at the 1923 Grouping and of British Railways at nationalisation on January 1st 1948. The works closed down in 1963.
