There is an extensive school in the area alongside School Street behind these terraced houses. The 1903 OS 1:2500 map shows three schools in the area east of Grange Road. An inscription somewhere on one of these houses, or those on the left, says "Grange Road 1893 [or 1898: it's very worn]".
