From the appearance of the parapets of the bridge it was built in the 1930's or 40's. It was superseded in the late 20th C by a larger more modern bridge which is a few metres downstream of the old one. (just visible behind the pedestrian) This one now carries very little traffic apart from bicycles. see also Image and Image
