The building was once occupied as a drill hall by the 5th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment (E Company) and is currently occupied by Mini Sport. April 1969 Mini Sport moved into its first dedicated premises at 15 Church St. Padiham, and has been based in the town ever since. Mini Sport's first seven years in business were an instant success, which meant the owners Brian and Heather's love of competing would be put on hold. Motor sport is in the blood at Mini Sport, and in 1975 Brian won the SD34 Shellsport Rally Championship in his 1340cc Cooper S. Two years later Mini Sport was growing rapidly, meaning that more space was needed to expand the Engineering Department, dedicated fitting bays and display the myriad products the firm now stocked. At this time the firm moved to its current base in the old drill hall at Thompson Street Padiham where 20,000 square feet of space was available.
