Bancroft's school was founded in 1737 and is administered by the City of London trade guild The Worshipful Company of Drapers. It was originally located in East London on the Mile End Road and moved to this location in 1889. The buildings were designed by Arthur Blomfield who was also the architect for Selwyn College Cambridge.
