The Market Hall was built in 1682 and restored in 1911. It dominates the centre of Amersham Old Town at the east end of the High Street. The market was held at ground floor level and guild meetings in the room above. Behind the bricked up arch to the right was the town lock-up, and the old town pump is visible to the right of that arch.
