This is looking towards London from near Heston Services. The red marking in the outside lane was the priority lane for buses, coaches, motorbikes, emergency vehicles and licensed taxis that once existed. The lane opened as a pilot in June 1999 and was made permanent in 2001. It has now been scrapped and the signs removed but the different colour of the carriageway remains.
