In 2009 I said it was a Geological SSSI. Despite my doubts since, it's status as an SSSI has been confirmed by John Brightley: "An interesting set of photos. I've done a planning search (it is called Coten End Quarry) and the planning officer's report confirms that it is an SSSI. http://planningdocuments.warwickdc.gov.uk/online-applications/files/415E78B733720845A1D15C4D05D137C1/pdf/W_11_0266-Officer_s_Report-427977.pdf ". The quarry is not listed as a Local Geological Site http://wgcg.freehostia.com/LoGS/LoGS-home.html The road on the left leads to business premises on the site of a former railway goods yard at Warwick station.
