This idyllic looking row of cottages is now in fact the headquarters of the South Wales Caving Club. In 2006, it was featured as a set in probably one of the darkest episodes of the Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood, Countrycide (first aired 19th November 2006). Both the cottages in the foreground and the two houses in the background along with much of the surrounding countryside were used and the filming company were there for four days. They must have a very good special effects department because, although the location was quite recognisable to anyone who has been here, it looked far tidier than when I visited there ;)
