Cleaning operations in the 15th century nave. The pews here would have been made about 1880 to replace the disliked box pews that had been installed in 1729, in which individual families would have sat, closed in by small doors. Also removed at this time would have been the old internal galleries, where congregations would once have sat to worship, looking down on the rest of the church from above.
