The dolmen concisting of upright stones and roofed with a capstone was a single chambered tomb in which the cremated ashes of the dead were laid to rest. This chamber whose entrance faced south, was backed on its northern side by an extensive cairn of stones. Over time the cairn has gone, but the outline of its base remains in the form two parallel lines of stone parts of which can be seen in the foreground of this image.
