Yes, a SMEG fridge ran from Newcastle to South Shields. Tony the Fridge man is quite obsessed with running marathons with his fridge, see; http://www.tonythefridge.com/ The people of Coniston at Heworth probably marvelled less at his feat than those of us who were struggling to run the 13.1 miles of the Great North Run without a fridge!
