The former railway line passed through a shallow cutting here, the edge of which ran along the line of the hedgerow - which probably conceals the original railway fencing - on the right of the shot. Now the cutting has been filled in and unless you were in the know, you'd never guess that a railway line once ran here. More and more of our old railway remnants are disappearing in this way; I wonder how much will be left in another fifty years?
