An old and historic building. That door on the left does not appear in pictures before 1914. I think it was created about 1920 when Lloyds Bank was rapidly extending it's network of branches across the country. My father worked there during the summer of either 1938 or 1939. The branch closed on the outbreak of war, reciprocating with Barclays who closed their branch on Catterick Camp at the same time. I understand both had been unprofitable and the war provided a good excuse to save both men for the war effort - and money! Barclays subsequently reopened a branch at Catterick Camp in the 1970s, but it's gone again now.
