This section of railway is now part of the Great Central Railway (Nottingham), a heritage railway based at the Nottingham Railway Heritage Centre on the former Ruddington Ordnance and Supply Depot site. The depot was built from 1940-2 and after the war was used to store surplus military vehicles. Its regular auctions ceased in 1983 and most of the large site is now a country park. The junction with the former Great Central main line is ahead.
