A closer look at the cottage wing of Blackpool House, also visible in Image] and Image Not only are reeds used, as normal, for the thatch, they have also been used, less conventionally, on the walls, which have "vertically applied water reeds fixed by horizontal buttons" http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1107987&searchtype=mapsearch .
