This small Norfolk village's claim to fame is that Admiral Lord Nelson was born here in 1758 as shown on the sign BURNHAN THORPE BIRTHPLACE OF HORATIO NELSON 29th SEPTEMBER 1758 NILE__________VANGUARD COPENHAGEN___ELEPHANT TRAFALGAR______VICTORY
